The Dessert Auction is FINALLY back!

Project Stepping Stone Picnic & Dessert Auction Returns!

It’s time to put all that pandemic stress baking good use! The Project Stepping Stone Dessert Auction is back and we’re looking for bakers to donate desserts for a good cause! (And, we’re looking for people to bid on said desserts for a good cause!)

PSS Cancels 2021 Dessert Auction

Project Stepping Stone is very sorry to announce that, due to the rise in Covid cases, we have decided to CANCEL the Dessert Auction that was planned for 9/26.

Please be aware that while lunch and the auction is canceled, there still will be a joint worship service at HTLC on Sunday 9/26/2021. During the service a special offering will be taken to help raise some of the $3500 we had budgeted as incoming auction funds. (Or you can give online now at our tithely here: https://tithe.ly/give_new/www/#/tithely/give-one-time/1805692)

We are planning to try to hold the auction in 2022 when Covid cases subside – and we might not even wait to September, so stay tuned!

Everyone stay safe!

Help Needed! Project Stepping Stone Work Days!

We’re doing one big final push to finish up some house remodeling and ready a house for move-in by September 1st and we need your help!

Project Stepping Stone is planning work days on:

Tuesday, August 10, 2021 (main goal: painting)
Thursday, August 12, 2021 (main goal: painting)

New – Thursday, August 26, 2021 (main goal: painting) – beginning at 10am!
Saturday, August 28, 2021 (main goal: cleaning)

If we could get just six people to help paint and clean on each of those days, we would be ticking off things on the to-do list faster than ever. More people would allow for us to expand the work into one of the other houses. And, don’t let the main goals fool you – if you don’t want to paint, but want to help, we can find a job for you! (For a full list of work to be completed see here)

With the current economy, there’s a lot of need for shelter housing in Delaware County (and everywhere – we’ve had to turn people away who were calling from outside the county). We want these homes to be safe and welcoming, which is why we’ve put so much work into them – but now they need to be done so we can actually welcome a family in.

Work starts at 9am on each day and will go to mid-afternoon. We’ve got an AC installed in 1241 that is keeping the house a reasonable temperature, and snacks and lunch will be provided. For questions, please email Maria at projectsteppingstone@gmail.com

PSS Resident Focus: KB & the Twins Update

Good news! K.B. and her now one-year-old twins found a place of their own just before Christmas. K.B.’s got a good job with a company working from home and is loving all the time she’s able to spend with the twins. Using Thrivent Action Team funds, we were able to help purchase Christmas presents for her and her brother’s family. The twins got warm winter coats, some of the walk-push-pop toy things, and most importantly to K.B., at least, lots of diapers!

The house K.B. was in is now empty and PSS is taking the time to put in a new furnace, new laminate flooring, and potentially a new bathroom.

Items (always) needed

Have a pile of items from your cleaning spree earlier in the pandemic?  Doing a refresh before the holidays?  Project Stepping Stone is always needs:

-microwave

-sheets and blankets (especially for twin beds)

-towels

-toaster

In addition, we’re still looking for a fridge.

If you have any of these items and are willing to donate them, please contact projectsteppingstone@gmail.com

Thank you!

Thank you First Pres!

After hearing that PSS had to cancel their Annual Dessert Auction, First Presbyterian Church of Muncie stepped up to help, donating over $2,000 to make up what we weren’t able to raise. These funds will help pay bills as we provide housing to families in need of shelter in Muncie.
